This course examines Pentecostalism, one of the fastest-growing religions worldwide. It considers its current importance and unique history in the Global South, especially how Pentecostals navigate their complex social, historical, religious, economic, and political environments. Using interdisciplinary methods, the course investigates key aspects of Pentecostalism in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, emphasizing their peculiarities and the sociohistorical processes—whether intentional or accidental—that connect local Pentecostal expressions globally. We will also explore themes influencing current research on global Pentecostalism.
