In every chaplaincy setting, chaplains will be engaged in meeting the complex needs of LGBTQIA2S+ people at the intersection of sexuality, gender, and spirituality. This course will help students develop understandings of gender and sexual embodiment and expression and will focus on situations that commonly arise in clinical chaplaincy contexts, higher education chaplaincy, and other chaplaincy settings. Students will develop the skills necessary to be affirming companions in spiritual exploration with LGBTQIA2S+ people, address crises that commonly arise specific to this population, and contribute meaningfully to the wellbeing of LGBTQIA2S+ people in multiple contexts of spiritual care.
